Take Your Counseling Career Further with a Sex Therapy Certificate.
UW-Stout's Sex Therapy Certificate will enhance your knowledge of human sexuality, sexual and gender diversity, and best practice sex-related psycho-therapeutic care for people dealing with issues related to sexuality, gender and close relationships. The program's hybrid course delivery and summer scheduling with online classes and weekend synchronous Zoom class meetings is designed to allow you—working professionals and graduate students—to take classes from anywhere.
Our nationally recognized faculty and program affiliates are engaged in cutting-edge research focused on eco-sexuality, multi-partnered relationships, management of technology in intimate relationships, and combating cisgenderism and monogamism in clinical practice, and we integrate these opportunities into program coursework for a unique learning experience.

American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) offers three certifications: Sex Therapist, Sexuality Educator, and Sexuality Counselor.
Completion of the program is designed to meet the training requirements (Core Knowledge, SAR, and Sex Therapy Training) for the AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST) credential. The STC also gives you graduate-level credit, with a letter grade, and AASECT CEs for each class. The program also is an approved by AASECT for continuing education credits. These continuing education credits may be applied toward AASECT Certification and renewal of certification.
Please Note: The AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST) requirement for certification is separate from the requirement for the STC from UW-Stout, and there are additional steps to completing earning an AASECT credential.
