Following is a Q&A with one of the 1,379 students who received a diploma May 5 at UW-Stout.

Why did you choose UW-Stout? It is a polytechnic college, and I loved the campus from the moment I saw it. I was very excited about the majors offered here as well and couldn't wait to launch myself into learning about the field I was excited to get into.
What are the biggest obstacles you faced in earning your degree? It was balancing my time with work, school, friends, being active and spending time working on hobbies. Figuring out how to manage time is something you really learn in college, and it is one of the most worthwhile skills to possess, in my opinion.
What stands out among your college experiences? It was the friendships and opportunities to get involved on campus. I met some of the most important people in my life here. They have helped shape me into the person I am. I have also gotten the chance to work in multiple positions on campus to learn what I like and dislike, as well as meet more incredible people and enhance my leadership capabilities and confidence.
What’s next? I will be moving to Wenatchee, Wash., at the end of May with my significant other, where we will be beginning our careers. I will be the sales and catering coordinator for the Wenatchee Convention Center and Coast Hotels. I cannot wait for this exciting new adventure.
