Board of Regents approves promotions, tenure for 18 UW-Stout faculty members

Changes in status take effect beginning with the fall semester

The Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents has approved promotions and tenure recommendations for 18 University of Wisconsin-Stout faculty members effective for the 2024-25 academic year.

The professors and their departments are:

Promoted to professor

  • Monika Herrmann, engineering and technology
  • Emily Hines, teaching, leadership and learning
  • Jerry Hui, visual and performing arts
  • Kelly O’Brien, visual and performing arts
  • Matthew Simoneau, teaching, leadership and learning

  • Becky DeGreeff, English, philosophy and communication studies
  • Kevin MacDonald, operations and management
  • Greg Slupe, engineering and technology

Promoted to associate professor with tenure

  • Michael Heagle, design
  • Alex Jordan, engineering and technology
  • Anne Schmitz, engineering and technology
  • Tyler Thomas, mathematics, statistics and computer science
  • Abhishek Verma, engineering and technology
  • Vince Wheeler, engineering and technology

Tenure

  • Mike Bird, kinesiology, health, food and nutritional sciences
  • Kevin Wilkinson, operations and management

Provost Glendalí Rodríguez, vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, celebrated the professors’ commitment to success.

“I look forward to recognizing the faculty and their accomplishments as the new academic year kicks off,” Rodríguez said. “Our polytechnic mission — that focus on applied learning, business partnerships and career-focused education — continues to guide their work across diverse disciplines, and each year I am inspired by the hard work of the faculty.” 

The 2024-25 academic year began Aug. 19. Opening Day activities, including campuswide Engagement Sessions for faculty and staff, are Monday, Aug. 26. Classes begin Wednesday, Sept. 4.

In the fall of 2023, UW-Stout had 222 faculty members.
