Study the materials and methods used to manufacture semiconductor chips. By successfully completing your Semiconductor Manufacturing Minor, you can add this knowledge to your existing major.
Program Objectives
- Describe fundamental processes associated with very large scale integrated circuit (VLSI) manufacturing
- Describe and/or determine causes of degradation and/or failure in VLSI materials and systems during manufacture or use
- Describe and/or determine appropriate characterization methods for VLSI products during manufacturing
- Apply knowledge of materials properties during the research, development and manufacturing of VLSI products
The Semiconductor Manufacturing Minor pairs particularly well with our B.S. Computer & Electrical Engineering, B.S. Manufacturing Engineering and Plastics Engineering degrees. It also provides a strong complement for students pursuing their B.S. Applied Mathematics & Computer Science, B.S. Chemistry, B.S. Computer Science or B.S. Physics.
