Chainsaw Safety Certification Levels 1 and 2
Description

Two-day field course introducing chainsaw use, maintenance, and safety. Chainsaw parts their function and care; proper care and use of personal protective equipment; creating a pre-fell plan and safety evaluation; and notching, felling, limbing, and bucking techniques. Chainsaw safety certifications will be awarded upon completion.

This course may be used by individuals who need to satisfy certification or safety requirements for Department of Natural Resources, forestry service, arborists, and construction. It also may be a selective for specific concentrations in the BS Environmental Science degree program.

Fish Conservation and Management

Description

Strategies for conservation and sustainable management of freshwater and marine fisheries. Characteristics of vulnerable species, direct and indirect causes of decline, habitat mitigation, fishery assessment and regulation, management of undesired and invading species.

For professional development of educators or for those interested in learning about strategies for conservation and sustainable management of freshwater and marine fisheries. Elementary French II
Description

Second level of understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in French. Introduction to future, conditional, imperfect and subjunctive verbs. Direct and indirect object pronouns. Short spontaneous and directed conversations. Topics in cultures of French-speaking people. One year H.S. French or FREN-101 required.
