Updated and New FAQ’s

How will students currently receiving gender-affirming hormone therapy be served when Prevea Health is the new provider on January 2, 2022?

Students who are currently utilizing student health services for their gender-affirming hormone therapy will continue to be served without disruption to care.

How will students who are exploring gender-affirming health care be served?

Students exploring gender-affirming health care will continue to be served, and any new patients may call now to schedule an appointment for care. Dr. Hall is now working as a consultant to Prevea Health providers, to provide them training in caring for these patients. This means when a student seeking this care comes in for their appointment with Dr. Hall, a Prevea Health provider will also be present to learn first-hand how this type of care is delivered. This will ensure these patients receive the best care possible, and that Prevea Health providers will know how to continue that care in the future.

Will Plan B be available to students?

UW-Stout has made Plan B available in select vending machines on campus and in some of UW-Stout’s convenience stores.

If you would prefer to meet with a medical provider, Plan B may be prescribed after consultation with a Prevea Health medical provider.

For information on select locations, contact Lisa Raethke at raethkel@uwstout.edu.

Were students involved in the decision to issue a Request For Proposal (RFP) for student health services and in the RFP process?

There was a student who served on the Alternative Service Delivery committee. This was the committee that made the recommendation to continue with the RFP process for student health services last fall. There was a student representative who served on the RFP committee. Students were surveyed to gather input on services desired as an outcome of the RFP.

Why was Prevea Health selected as the provider?

Prevea Health was selected as the provider through a competitive RFP process which included scoring of applications, an interview process, and a financial proposal that would ensure the segregated fee for students would remain flat for at least the next three years, while enhancing overall health care services for all students.

Is Prevea Health a Christian organization?

Prevea Health is committed to serving all students regardless of age, race, color, national origin, culture, ethnicity, language, socioeconomic status, religion, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression, or manner of payment.
